I Was Built to Wander

💎 Legendary 🌧️ Inner Echoes

No Room for Wings

No Room for Wings

Everyone else obeys. Mitey refuses.

Born into a noble family, she knows what her refusal will cost. An unjust command becomes a sentence, and the world she was expected to inherit shrinks to a cell.

The ruler has given her walls and time. She begins finding uses for both that he never intended.

Beyond the reach of the door, she makes places to wander. The clock continues counting, but sometimes a melody carries her far enough that she no longer hears it.

Then footsteps return outside. The cell is still there.

So is everything she has been building inside it.

Inner Sky

Some feelings need more room than a life allows. Inner Sky gives them wings, currents, and skies you thought you had forgotten.

About this song

A deep ethereal trance journey about curiosity, motion, and the refusal to let wonder collapse into stillness.

Driven by submerged pulses, cold atmospheric pads, and intimate female vocals, the track moves like a slow night drive through endless horizons—never exploding, only expanding. It speaks to the part of the soul that survives through searching, becoming, and carrying unanswered questions forward.

Within No Room for Wings, the need to move is part of identity. The song asks for a life where belonging leaves room for discovery.

A dreamy trance track with cold reverb layers and a steady ethereal rhythm, carried by soft yet piercing female vocals over pad textures like soft wind and deep sea, held together by a consistent pulse that feels like distant drums underwater.

Represents: deep struggle, hope inside despair, power inside weakness, transformation of prison into inner worlds, resistance against being made smaller, symbolic rather than literal sci-fi, deep emotional trance.

Lyrics

[Intro]
Cold air drifts through open sound
A pulse far away, steady… waiting
I inhale the dark (inhale the dark)
I remember myself (remember myself)

[Verse 1]
I was never carved for standing still
My bones remember moving light
Every rule I learned felt borrowed
Every wall felt temporary

They called it calm, they called it safe
But something in me stayed awake
A quiet fire behind my eyes
Asking why the sky felt locked

[Pre-Chorus]
If curiosity is a crime (a crime)
Why does it feel like home? (like home)
If I erase this part of me
Who is it that survives alone?

[Chorus]
I was built to wander
Not to fade in place
I was shaped by questions
Not by silent days

Don't ask me to be smaller
To earn my rest
If I stop searching now
I lose myself (lose myself)

[Post-Chorus]
I don't run from home (from home)
I search for it (for it)
I don't run from home (from home)
I search for it (for it)

[Verse 2]
They offered me a softer cage
Called it growing up, called it wise
Taught me how to fold my wonder
So it wouldn't take up space

But my hands still reach for edges
For the unknown, for the door
I feel alive when I am moving
Even when I'm not sure

[Pre-Chorus 2]
You can give me perfect peace (perfect peace)
But strip the road away (away)
And I'll be calm… but hollow
Breathing, not awake

[Chorus]
I was built to wander
Not to disappear
I was born with distance
Pulling me from here

Don't trade my open horizon
For a quieter breath
If I stop becoming now
I lose myself (lose myself)

[Bridge]
I am not broken
I am unfinished (unfinished)
Motion is my language
Becoming is my faith

If you freeze the river
To keep it pure
You don't save the water
You end the flow (end the flow)

[Chorus]
I was built to wander
And still belong
To carry many worlds
And come back strong

Let me move with meaning
Let me choose my way
Stillness without wonder
Is not my heaven (my heaven)

[Outro]
The pulse remains (remains)
The path is wide (is wide)
I walk forward
Still myself

I was built to wander (to wander)
And I am alive (alive)

An old drive opens onto games, songs, and lives left unfinished. Nera Voss listens to the selves preserved in those files, and to all the years spent saying later.
