Inner Fortress tells the story of a child who lives more deeply in imagination than in the world around him.
Constantly bullied and surrounded by other children who ridicule his dreams, he begins to retreat inward. He chooses silence, afraid that anything he reveals about himself will become another target. But inside that silence, he builds a fortress—not to disappear from the world, but to protect the part of himself that the world is trying to erase.
Within this hidden world, silence eventually breaks. The child begins a long journey of discovering himself, listening to every neglected part of his inner life and confronting even the nightmares that once chased him through the dark. Instead of running from them, he turns toward them, reaches out, and tries to understand them.
Slowly, the unknown parts of himself stop becoming enemies. Fear gives way to understanding, rejection to acceptance, until there is nothing within him left to hate. The fortress that began as a shelter becomes a peaceful, luminous inner world—a place where he is understood, respected, and whole.
From there, the inner self becomes the foundation of an almost limitless strength. Darkness no longer carries the same power, because many of the monsters within it were born from parts of himself he had never understood.
That inner fortress allows the child to survive some of the harshest days of bullying and a deeply toxic environment without surrendering his dreams, his kindness, or the person he was becoming.
In this chapter of The Child Who Remembered the Stars, imagination protects a bullied child from losing his kindness and sense of self. The fortress gradually changes from a hiding place into a space where even frightening parts of his inner life can be understood.
